Netbell – SIP Speaker Setup Guide

Quick Setup Guide
⏱ Estimated Setup Time: 20–40 Minutes

Prerequisites

Steps for a Smooth Initial Setup of Your SIP speakers

  • Identify IP address or Domain of your phone system (PBX)

Write down either the IP address or domain for the PBX you will connect your speakers to.

  • Create an Extension for each Speaker

Each SIP speaker will need to be registered to your phone system as their own extension.

For each extension created document the following:

    • Extension #
    • Display Name
    • Authentication Username (if applicable)
    • Proxy Port (if applicable)
    • SIP Secret / Password
      • Naming changes depending on the service used.
      • This is the unique password assigned to each extension

Please contact your phone provider if you need help creating an extension.

  • Download the SIP Configuration Tool

The SIP Configuration Tool allows you to discover and configure Linortek-SIP Devices.

The Installer for the SIP Configuration Tool can be downloaded here

Note: The computer running the SIP Configuration Tool must be on the same network segment/VLAN of the SIP speakers.

Important: When you run the installer, you might see a Windows security message saying, “Windows protected your PC.” This is normal:

    • Click “More info”
    • Click “Run anyway”

Step 1 – Unbox and Identify Materials

Unbox all components and compare with the included packing list.

  • Netbell-H30-709S POE-SIP Horn Speaker 30W

  • Netbell-CM-600S POE-SIP Ceiling Speaker 30W

  • Netbell-WM-042S POE-SIP Wall Speaker 20W

Step 2 – Initial Wiring and Access

Connect your devices to your network switch providing PoE.

  • Power and Ethernet

The Netbell-SIP Speaker products can be powered via PoE or by a 12VDC power supply.

The following are the MAX wattage draws for each speaker:

    • Netbell-H30-709S POE-SIP Horn Speaker: 30W
    • Netbell-CM-600S POE-SIP Ceiling Speaker: 30W
    • Netbell-WM-042S POE-SIP Wall Speaker: 20W

    PoE:

Connect the SIP speakers ethernet port to your destination PoE+ switch port. You should see lights on your SIP speaker’s ethernet port illuminate

Note: Ensure the combined wattage of all devices connected to your PoE switch does not exceed 80% of the switch’s total PoE power budget.

    12VDC:

We don’t include any power adapters with the speakers. If there is no PoE on site or if you prefer to use the power adapter, please purchase at least a 1A@12VDC power adapter with 3.5mm barrel connector. Insert the barrel connector into the SIP Speakers, ensure the connection is flush and fully seated. Plug the power supply into a suitable source of power.

Finally, connect an Ethernet cable between the SIP speaker’s Ethernet port and a port on the destination non-PoE switch.

  • Initial Device Access

Once your devices are powered on and connected to the network, you will need to discover the devices using the SIP configuration tool installed in the preliminary steps.

The SIP configuration tool shows a table of all discovered devices on your network.

    Relevant information shown:

    • Display Name
    • Device Type
    • IP Address
    • MAC Address

By default, SIP speakers have a static IP set. To change the IP address of a speaker, click on it. The form labeled device information up top should populate with the current configuration of the speaker. Adjust the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateways fields to match your network environment. Click save to apply changes.

Afterwards click Search Devices, you should see your speaker with its updated network configurations. Double click on the device to access its web interface.

You should be prompted with a login in screen. Log in to the device using the default credentials Username: admin Password: 123456. These credentials can be changed at any time by going to the Advanced Settings -> Security Tab

Step 3 – Configuring Your SIP Speaker

Registering Your SIP Speaker to a Phone System and Completing Additional Configuration

Click Save. Then click Logout in the upper-right corner of the screen to apply these changes.

Log back in to the device and locate the Server Status field in the Overview section. The status should show Connected.

If the status shows Disconnected, the speaker has not successfully registered with the PBX. Verify that the information entered under SIP Settings is correct.

  • Configuring Volume, Multicast Groups, and Remote Audio Forwarding

FAQ’s

Dedicated Voip/SIP providers are reliable, easy to use, and takes the management load off of you (when it comes to hosting the PBX). It does come at a cost though. If your deployment isn’t as intricate to require a dedicated VOIP provider consider setting up your own local PBX.

For instructions on how to self-host FreePBX on a dedicated machine see: FreePBX Local SIP Setup Configuration & Troubleshooting Guide – Linortek Resources

For instructions on how to configure you SIP speaker with a cloud provider see: Setting Up Netbell SIP Device with RingCentral – Linortek Resources

The most common issue we have seen this happen is if your computer uses WiFi, and the WiFi network is on different subnet than your Linortek device. Make sure the Linortek unit is on the same subnet as your computer.

If using PoE ensure the ethernet port on the speaker is illuminated with a blue and amber light.

Ensure the following:

  • Speakers have been properly grouped
    • See Step 3 “IP Based Accessories Setup”, section labeled ” Grouping Your Speakers”
  • Ensure your AU-711 SIP is targeting the set group number
    • See Step 5 “AU-711 SIP setup”, section labeled ” SIP Configuration”
  • Finally ensure the Codec used in the AU-711’s “intercom” menu is supported by your phone provider.
    • G.722 – preferred (if supported)
    • G.711u – most compatible, recommended for U.S.
    • G.711a – for European systems.
    • Experiment setting different codecs in higher priority, ultimately use the one supported in your region
    • Reach out to your VoIP provider for further troubleshooting
