Quick Setup Guide
⏱ Estimated Setup Time: 20–40 Minutes

Step 1 – Unbox and Identify Materials

Unbox all components and compare with the included packing list.

  • 1M RJ45 Ethernet Cable

  • 12VDC Power Supply

  • Netbell Setting Instructions

  • Netbell-2 Installation and wiring Instructions

Step 2 – Wiring the Netbell-8 controller

Connect the Netbell-8 Controller to a power supply, ethernet connection, and bell outputs.

  • Power

Identify the included 12VDC power supply. Plug it into a suitable power source and into the Netbell-8’s power socket labeled 12VDC.

  • Ethernet

Identify the 1M RJ45 cable and establish an ethernet connection between the Netbell-8 and your switch.

Note: If connecting to a switch port that provides Power over Ethernet (PoE), remove the 12VDC power supply as only one source of power is needed. Using two sources of power can damage your device and cause undesired behavior.

  • 12VDC Bell

Identify the 12VDC power supply intended for your bell (The one with exposed wires) and relay to be used

    1. From the power supply connect the positive wire (solid black) to the bell’s positive wire (red).
    2. From the power supply connect the negative wire (black with white stripe) to the COM terminal.
    3. Finally connect the bell’s negative wire (black) to the NO terminal.

Note: If using the power supply provided in your 12VDC bell kit that you purchased from us, you can connect up to 1 bell to each output.

  • 24VAC Bell or Buzzer

Identify your 24VAC transformer, bell/buzzer power cables, and relay to be used.

    1. Connect 1 wire from the bell cable to one of the AC terminals on the 24VAC transformer and connect it to the COM terminal
    2. Connect another to the remaining AC terminal and connect them to a wire from the bell/buzzer
    3. Connect. the remaining wire of the bell/buzzer to the NO terminal

Finally connect the transformer to a power source.

Note: If using the 24VAC transformer provided in your 24VAC bell/buzzer kit that you purchased from us, you can connect up to 2 bells to each output.

Note: Do NOT use the center GND terminal on the 24VAC power transformer.

Step 3 – Accessing the Web Server

Finding the Netbell controller on your network, accessing the web server, and applying network configurations

  • Using Linortek Discover to find your Netbell

Download and install the Linortek Discover desktop app using the link provided below.

    Linortek Discover for Window

The program you download from our website is a zip file, you will need to extract the file first after downloading. After extracting the zip file, you will see a file called “Linortek_Discover_Windows.exe”, double click the file, you will most likely to see a popup window stating that “Windows protected your PC, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.” with a “Don’t run” button.

You need to click “More info”, the app name, publisher information will display, click “Run anyway” to open the app, it won’t harm your computer.

  • Finding your Netbell’s IP address and Setting Network Configurations

    Access using Discover:

By default, your Netbell comes with DHCP enabled meaning if configured a DHCP server will automatically assign it an IP address.

Once started the Discover application should display the Linortek devices on your network. If multiple Linortek devices exist use the MAC address printed on the device to identify the target device.

Click on the target device to access the web server.

Note: It is recommended that the device running discover is on the same LAN/VLAN and subnet of the Netbell. Otherwise, it will not be listed or easily accessible unless inter-VLAN routing is configured.

If you’re unable to find your device using Discover:

Open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal(macOS) and run the following “ping SERVER”. If you get a response, copy the IP address of the responding device and paste it into the address bar of a browser.

Additionally, you may use an IP scanner to identify devices on your network, then use the MAC address printed on the device to identify the IP held by the device.

Lastly if all previous attempts fail, connect the ethernet cable from the NTG directly into your computer. Using a web browser enter 169.254.1.1 into the address bar (this is your NTG’s default IP address)

    Logging in:

When prompted to login enter the default credentials Username: admin, Password: admin.

    Assigning a static IP:

It is recommended but not required to set a static IP address to ensure reliable access to the web server. If left with DHCP enabled, it’s possible that a new IP address is assigned in the future and the use of the discover tool will be needed for future access.

To assign a static IP go to Configure -> Network Config. Disable the “Enable DHCP” check box and enter your network configuration as needed. Document the IP address assigned for future access.

Step 4- Configuring your Netbell

Configuring Time, bell schedules, push buttons, and bell duration.

  • Setting Time and Date

When first configuring your Netbell, you will need to verify the time and date on your home page. Your Netbell is configured by default to use Eastern Standard Time (GMT-5) and will automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time. If your location is not in the Eastern Time zone, please make sure to set your Time Zone first. Using an incorrect time zone will cause the bells to ring at the wrong time.

    To set your Time Zone:

    • Go to Settings > Time/Date
    • Enter your local Time Zone (for example, -5 for Eastern Time Zone, -6 for Central Time Zone, -7 for Mountain Time Zone, -8 for Pacific Time Zone)
    • Make sure the Use NTP Update box is checked (when this box is checked, the Netbell will update its time from the NTP server every 30 minutes by default)

Note: If an ethernet connection is not supplied during normal operation, the Netbell will be unable to receive NTP updates. This can lead to a misalignment of you schedule over time. To fix this provide an ethernet connection and either manually correct the time in the time textbox or set NTP Interval text box to 1, receive an NTP update, and set it back to 30 afterwards.

  • Bell Schedules

    Configuring your bell schedule:

    1. Go to Services -> Bells
    2. In the Name textbox enter a name for the scheduled event
    3. Set the time using the dropdown boxes next to the time label. The following is the format for time HR:MIN:SEC. Note: Your entry needs to be in 24HR format. Ex. 3PM -> 15:00:00
    4. Set the duration for the bell using the following format. # + drop box selection (mS,Sec,Min)
    5. Skip if recurring bells are needed. Select the calendar drop-down and select a date.
    6. Click Add

Your scheduled bell now exists, by default it will ring bells on outputs 1 and 2, M-F. To change this simply click the circles associated to toggle between on and off.

    Saving your bell schedules:

Save your bell schedules to create backups in case of data loss or to switch in and out multiple schedules.

To do so click download in the lower right, you should see a screen with a CSV representation of your schedule. Copy the entirety of this data including #start into notepad and save as a .txt file.

    Uploading bell schedules:

As if you were creating a bell schedule entry, enter #upload in the Name textbox and click add. You should be prompted with the bells upload page, click Choose File and select the desired bell schedule. Click upload and your bell schedule will be applied.

FAQ’s

There are two main methods to manually activate a sound for evacuation on your Netbell device without requiring additional hardware:

Method 1: Web Interface

  1. Log in to your Netbell device’s webpage
  2. Navigate to the Services + Relays page
  3. Click the red dot under the State tab
  4. This will manually activate the evacuation bell

Method 2: RESTful API via Mobile App

You can use the device’s RESTful API to activate the relay (bell) through a third-party mobile application:

  • For iPhone users: Rest-HTTP API Client (or similar apps)
  • For Android users: Various free REST API client apps are available
  • These apps allow you to send API commands to trigger the evacuation sound remotely

Are there other activation methods available?

Yes, the most straightforward method would be using a physical push button. However, the web interface and API methods described above provide the manual control you need without requiring any additional hardware.

Which method is recommended?

  • Web Interface: Best for manual activation when you have computer/tablet access
  • Mobile API: Ideal for remote activation and emergency situations when you need to trigger the alarm from anywhere with internet connectivity

Both methods provide reliable manual control of your evacuation system without the need for additional buttons or accessories.

There might be two reasons: The first one is cookies/cache browser issue. To fix it – just click PAUSE and LOGIN again (upright corner). If it does not work, please click DOWNLOAD (bottom left corner), make sure you can see your entries in a txt format. If you can, make sure Names don’t include “&” symbol. If you find “&” as a part of a name for some of your event, you need to rename it and reupload your schedule. Please watch the Netbell configuration video tutorial where we show how to create and upload text file bell schedule.

The distance you can run the wires depends on two factors: the power supply you use for the bell and the wire gauge. You can use this voltage drop calculator to determine the maximum wiring distance for your specific setup: https://bit.ly/133XfS6

If you use the power supply we provide with our product, you can run:

  • Up to 250 feet using 18 gauge wire
  • Up to 500 feet using 16 gauge wire

You can schedule up to 500 events through the Netbell software.
