Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

  • Will I need to hire a professional to install my Linortek system?

In most cases our system is very simple to install. However, for complex systems or long runs of wires, a professional electrician may be necessary. Although, our all-in-one systems can alleviate this issue by making it more convenient to setup.

  • What is the difference between a Netbell-2 and a Koda 100?

The Koda 100 is a generic web relay board. However, the Netbell-2 uses the same hardware with the Koda 100. It includes all the features the Koda 100 board has, but installed with bell scheduling software that is specially designed to control a bell system.

  • What is the default log in credentials of my Linortek device?

    The default login credentials are:

    1. username:  admin

    2. password:  admin

  • What do the LED’s mean on my Linortek unit?

The RED LED is the heartbeat LED, it lets you know the unit it powered on. The GREEN LED means that the unit is communication to the network. The BLUE LED is a marker that allows you to know which unit you would like to find on the Discoverer program.

  • What are the advantages of choosing Linortek products over other competitors?

All of our units are tested to make sure they are working as intended before being shipped to our customers. Our customer support is top notch and we provide an easy to install system combined with direct support to help with any complications.

  • Can I use one controller as a master controller?

Yes, you can have one controller setup as a master controlling multiple slave controllers over the network by linking their IP address together.

  • My device keeps resetting, I can see Watchdog reset in the logs. How can this be fixed?

If your device keep resetting, there might be something wrong in the software. You can try one of the following:

    1. Reset to factory default. Here is an instruction of how to reset
    to factory default:

IoTMeter Questions

  • Can I use your hour meter to count twistlock operations with a PLC pulse?

Yes. If your PLC sends a 5–48 VDC pulse lasting 36 seconds, the meter will increment by 0.01. It can count up to 999,999.99.

  • Where the data store? In the meter or in the cloud?

All of our devices have a built-in Server (just like a PC), the data is saved on the Server.

  • What would be the power consumption for one meter?

The power consumption of one meter will be 90 – 100 mA, and with both relays active it will be 120 – 130 mA.

  • We are trying to switch to a usage based maintenance model and would like to use networked hour meter. I just want to ask though do you have a networked Hour Meter available that will also display the number of hours run at the machine?

Yes, our regular network hour meter has been used by many big manufacturers in the US to monitor the equipment run time. You can monitor the hours from its landing page without logging in to the unit, or monitor from our HourCollector desktop app.

  • There might be times where the device is not powered for days when doing repairs or maintenance. How long can the rechargeable battery last without power for offline time keeping backup?

The built-in rechargeable battery will last approximately 7 days.

  • Regarding the data processing, can the data be exported to a csv file? Sent to another online platform?

We have a HourCollector desktop app that can be used to monitor multiple equipment. Once the desk app is opened, it will create a csv file automatically and save the hour readings every two minutes by default. We also have a couple ways to integrate the hour data to your own system (RESTful API or XML).

  • Is there a way to get information from multiple meters into a database system at regular time intervals or something like that?

We have a desktop app called HourMeter Collector. You can use it to view every hour meter on your network and load the information onto a .CSV file. This can be opened as a spreadsheet or injected into any other database program. By default it collects data every 2 minutes, however you can change the interval as needed.

  • Is it possible to view the run hours directly on the hours meter in the way that you would traditionally do with a basic non-networked version? Currently our WiFi network does not cover the entirety of our production areas.

We can connect using a phone app like TCP Telnet Terminal. Using a password you can make a local connection. Another way to do so is to setup a local WiFi router (doesn’t need to connect to the Internet), then having all the WiFi Hour Meter connected to that router, and a
computer connected to the same router for capturing the data with the HourCollector app. If you have a way to upload csv file to your
management system, you can upload the csv file created from the app, or you have to manual input the data. Once you have WiFi network available, you can automatically pull the data using JSON format.

  • I need to send the data through a 3G/4G network as I don’t have access to any wired internet network. Do you offer a GSM router solution?

Unfortunately, our hour meter device can’t send data through a 3G/4G network. However, you could use one GSM router to provide network connection to our device.

  • How long does it take to recharge the battery, and what happens if it’s fully drained?

The battery only powers the internal clock. All settings and meter data are stored in permanent memory. A fully drained battery will recharge in about 5 hours.

  • Can I synchronize the meter with the machine’s controller?

We have two options for the hour meter software: resettable or non-resettable. The default software is resettable. For the resettable version, you can set the hours as the same as your equipment.

  • Can I monitor 10 different machines from one place?

Yes, we have a custom developed desk app that can monitor multiple hour meters from one interface.

  • Can I log an alarm signal?

There are 16 built-in schedules with IF then THAT statement. You can use these statements to set different tasks. Additionally, select “email” to receive an email when an even occurs. All the events will be logged on the Log page.

  • Can I get report “As per shift timings”?

In a standard unit you can set the time interval for reporting. We do have customers that build their own program for this kind of custom report. We also have RESTful command available for custom developed application.

  • Is real-time data analysis possible?

The web page and the HourCollector App provide real time data.

Netbell Questions

  • I don’t see drop-down menu under Services

It is possible that this is a cookies/cache issue. Click the Pause button and Login again. If it doesn’t correct the issue, please reboot the system from System > Load/Reboot System page.

  • I can’t see the schedule under Services / Bells page

There are two possible reasons for this issue:

    1. Browser Cookies/Cache: Try clearing your browser’s cookies and cache. To resolve this, click PAUSE and then LOGIN again (found in the top right corner).
    2. File Format Issue: If the previous step doesn’t work, click DOWNLOAD (bottom left corner) and ensure your entries are saved in a .txt format. If you can see your entries, check that none of the names contain the “&” symbol. If you find any, simply rename them and re-upload your schedule.

For a more detailed guide, please refer to the Netbell configuration video tutorial, where we show you how to create and upload a bell schedule using a text file.

  • How many bell schedules can I schedule?

You can schedule up to 500 events through the Netbell software.

  • How far can I run the wires from the controller to the bell?

The distance you can run the wires depends on two factors: the power supply you use for the bell and the wire gauge. You can use this voltage drop calculator to determine the maximum wiring distance for your specific setup: https://bit.ly/133XfS6

If you use the power supply we provide with our product, you can run:

    • Up to 250 feet using 18 gauge wire
    • Up to 500 feet using 16 gauge wire

Network Questions

  • The web interface page is blocked in my browser. How do I access it?

Most of our controllers use HTTP.
Some browsers may block HTTP pages due to security settings. If you’re having trouble accessing the web interface, try the following:

Option 1: Use a different browser. Some browsers, like Chrome and Edge, block HTTP content more aggressively. Try using Firefox, which is generally more permissive with local HTTP connections.

Option 2: Bypass the warning. If you see a message like “Your connection is not private”, you can safely bypass it when connecting to our device: Click “Advanced” or “More Info” then Click “Proceed to the site”. This is safe for our controllers, as you’re connecting within your local network—not to the internet.

Option 3 (Firefox): Disable HTTPS-Only mode. Navigate to your browser’s settings, go to Privacy & Security, scroll down to HTTPS-Only Mode and select Don’t enable HTTPS-Only Mode

Option 4 (Chrome): Allow Insecure Content. Click the padlock icon in the address bar, click “Site settings“, find “Insecure content“, set to “Allow“, then reload the page

  • My device keeps resetting and I can see “Watchdog reset” in the logs. How can I fix this?

If your device keeps resetting, there might be something wrong in the software. You can try the following:

    1. Reset to factory default. Instructions can be found here: Reset to Factory Default

    2. If the board still resets itself, you will need to reload the software. Instructions can be found here: Update Software Instruction

Make sure you don’t connect 12V power adapter at the same time with PoE (power over ethernet)

  • If my internet or network goes down, will my bell/buzzer schedule still work?

With the ability to become a standalone system, our advantage is being able to still function in the case of a network outage.

  • I set static IP address for the device, but it is reset to DHCP

This behavior would be consistent with a reset to default settings. This can be done manually and over the web interface. For this to occur otherwise would require a restart with corrupted memory, in this case it will automatically use default settings.

  • I have downloaded the Discoverer program, however it is not running?

Make sure you have downloaded the current version of Java, this can be found here; http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp. You may also need to restart your computer after you do this, so all java files automatically use Java program. If you still having issues with running the app, please use Jarfix app (for Windows only) to fix Java issues by running the app.

  • I cannot find my Linortek product in the Discover program?

The most common issue we have seen this happen is if your computer uses WiFi, and the WiFi network is on different subnet of your Linortek device connected to. Make sure the Linortek unit is on the same subnet as your computer.

The other possible issues might be the firewall on your network or your computer blocking the communication, talk to your IT department and make sure UDP port 30303 is allowed. If you use Windows computer, you can try to open Command Prompt and type there: “ping server”. If you get “Reply from” please open a browser and type this IP address to the URL line.

If you still have problems, you can connect the unit directly to your ethernet port on your computer, the factory default is 169.254.1.1.
Type the IP address into a chrome or Firefox and it should bring you to the Login web page.

  • How do I find the IP address of my Linortek Device?

You can download our Discoverer program to find the IP address on your network here,
    https://www.linortek.com/downloads/support-programming/

Additionally you can use the “ping server” command in your command prompt, or connect it directly to your computers ethernet port and use the default IP address 169.254.1.1.
