There are two ways to show Device Info readings on a display. Use the default layout for a ready-made table, or supply custom HTML when you need a specific design. This guide covers the custom path, the default path is noted where the two diverge.
The two ways to show readings
| OPTION A Default layout Select the devices you want to include and their readings appear automatically as tables. No code needed. Covered by The Manual | OPTION B Custom HTML Start from the default template, download its HTML, redesign it, and paste your version back in. Covered by THIS GUIDE |
Set up the template
Both paths share the same starting point.
- Create a template in Slates: Open Slates and create a New template.
- Choose Slate Type: Device Info
From here you can use the default layout, or continue below to build a custom one.
Build the custom layout
Take the default template and replace it with your own design.
- Save the default template by going to the template and clicking Download button in the upright corner. It will download HTML on your PC.
- Customize the HTML
Edit the markup to lay out the readings however you like. You can do this by hand, or use an AI assistant to generate or refine the code for you.
- Paste it back in :In the template, turn on the HTML Code Editor switch, then paste in your prepared code. The display now renders your custom layout.
| TIP · USING AI Paste the downloaded HTML into an AI assistant, describe the layout you want, and bring the result back into the HTML Code Editor. Keep any data fields or placeholders from the original so the live readings still bind correctly. |
| GOOD TO KNOW The HTML Code Editor switch toggles between the default visual layout and your custom code. Turn it off at any time to fall back to the built-in table view. |
